Antigone Final Exam (Open Notes/Open Book): 360 points!
In the essay questions below, you must utilize 8 or more vocabulary/literary terms into your answers. You may split these between the two essays (4 in one, 4 in another; 2 in one, 6 in another; 8 in one, 0 in another). Underline each word in order to get credit for using it. Each word will earn you 10 points = 80 points total
Essay Question: This question is based on an actual question from the 1994 AP Exam: In some works of literature, a character who appears briefly, or does not appear at all, is a significant presence. Using Antigone, write an essay in which you show how such a character functions in the work. You may wish to discuss how the character affects action, theme, or the development of other characters. Avoid plot summary. Your essay will be scored on the AP Exam 1-9 point scale. See your 9/10/08 handout for the score sheet. The length should be 1 ½ - 2 pages written. Worth 100 points
(Hint! You can create a nice 5 paragraph essay with an introduction, paragraph on action, paragraph on theme, paragraph on character development, and conclusion.)

Write an essay in which you analyze the sources of the conflict and explain how the conflict contributes to the meaning of the work. Avoid plot summary. Your essay will be scored on the AP Exam 1-9 point scale. See your 9/10/08 handout for the score sheet. The length should be 1 ½ - 2 pages written. Worth 100 points
