After this class, students will be able to:
1. view photography with a critical eye.
2. write using the stream-of-consciousness method.
3. read and listen to student-created poetry.
Agenda:
1. Warm-up: In their notebooks, students will answer the following question: What does service mean to you? Ms. Kingsbury will solicit students for their answers.
2. Photo Freewrite Activity: In honor of the upcoming MLK holiday on Monday, students will have the opportunity to view and freewrite about a variety of MLK images. When students see each photo, they should jot down any thoughts that come to mind. Ideas include: what do you see, what do you feel, what does the person/people in the photo feel, what questions do you have, what is your gut reaction? At the end of the photo freewrite, students wil have an opportunity to share their (hopefully) poetic creations:
