What do you think? What is the attraction of the corner store before and/or after school? Would kids still go to the corner store if all they could buy were fruit and veggie snacks? 20 points extra credit for a well thought-out opinion of 5 sentences on this topic emailed to ms.kingsbury@verizon.net or posted to the COMMENTS section below!
Wow that is so cool, i never thought of that. That is a good experiment. and so true so many kids go to the corner store in the morning. When I'm walking up 59th street hill to get to brook there is this store. Mr. Gordy's store and its always full with kids, (well it can only fit 5) but their kids outside trying get in and get their morning snacks. At the same time it wouldn't be smart to try in cut the corner stores produce and profits, kids need to learn how to make healthy choices it their decision not the Mr. Gordy's
ReplyDeleteI thought this while experiment was a waste of time. KIds is going to be kids. I believe they go to the corner store to avoid the friuts and veggie snacks. I remember when I was little, goin to school corner stores I was always getting unhealthy foods and snacks to get away from the healthy foods. Kids is going to be kids, so let them just live their life.
ReplyDeleteI think that is a waste of time. Without healthy snacks, corner stores make a lot of money, just imagine how much they would make with healthy snacks. Not all the times us kids want something healthy in our stomach, every now and then or everyday we would want something sweet. Besides its not like the school be giving us a reason not to waste our money on something that's not good for us anyway, so why bother. I'll say if they do that then kids will just find another way to get their unhealthy snacks in the morning. Personally I think the best way to prevent obesity is to check with the parents to help the kids put a limit on how much money to spend a day on unhealthy snacks and limit how much days a week to eat unhealthy snacks.
ReplyDeletePersonally I believe this is a beautiful idea because America already faces a obesity epidemic. This would just hit the nail on the head to stop it. It is almost genius like most kids just waste there money on what ever they can find the cheapest and the closest and if the fruit just looks fresh I know a lot of my friends would buy it. Hell, I would buy grapes every day and maybe mangoes and some tangerines, that would be lovely. Plus it will also decrease crime. I mean what type of drug dealer wants to stand out a store that sells fruit. Overall it sounds perfect to me. Also anyone who thinks this is a dumb idea probably goes to the corner store a lot and buys a whole bunch of junk anyway

ReplyDeletei think it is 100% true. children go to the corner sore way to much. i myself did the same thing when i was younger. i would spend more then 3 dollars every morning. i think that the attraction is the availability of the snacks. i dont think that kids would buy fruit or veggie snacks if it was offered. i wouldnt even now!!
