Agenda:
1. Warm-Up: Personal Check In - how are things going in your life right now? School? Home? Work? Extracurricular activities? College Search? Write 4-5 sentences in your notebook.
2. Homework Share: Discussion of plagiarism definitions and famous cases. Students will write the following plagiarism contract into their notebooks:
From class discussions, I understand that plagiarism means __________ (write your definition here). I understand that there is a serious penalty for plagiarizing my senior project. If I need help, I will ask ____________ (any teacher that can help you). Signature
Students will type up this plagiarism contract to include with their research proposals. Typed research proposals with plagiarism contract should be emailed to ms.kingsbury@verizon.net by Friday, October 10, 2008!
3. Research Paper Requirements Q&A:
a. Your paper will be 12-15 typed pages in length. You are required to have an introduction paragraph with a thesis statement, an answer to each question on your research proposal (1/2 page to 1 page answer for each), and a conclusion paragraph. You must also have a bibliography/works cited page. Font size is 12 pt. in Times New Roman style.
b. You are required to have at least 10 sources. Sources include websites of credible authority, magazines, journals, books, interviews, documentaries, movies, television shows, etc. If you email me your topic, I will email back to you a list of places to start your research.
c. Each piece of the research paper will be done step by step. The next step is for you to begin researching and reading about your topic. Bring in 20 pages of notes on your topic by October 1, 2008. You will receive 200 points for this very important assignment. "Notes" can include anything that you've written down, books you have checked out, articles you have copied or printed, any combination of pages.
Homework: Find three websites about your topic. In your notebook, write down the following information for each: web address, title, author/publisher, date it was last updated, summary of information located on the site.
do we still have to do the 20 pages of notes and if so by when since u suggested that we should have it.
