Objectives:
After this class, students will be able to:
1. write for a specifically defined audience.
2. make a substantive evaluation on literature.
3. write creatively and satirically.
Agenda:
1. Warm-Up: In their notebooks, students will answer the following question: Which play did you like better, Antigone or Oedipus? Why? Ms. Kingsbury will solicit student opinions on these two Greek dramas.
2. Today students will engage in a pen pal writing activity with our cross country San Diego students. Students will receive pen pal letters and respond - 50 points for their correspondence.
3. Students will read a poem entitled "A Humorous Distillation of Antigone" from our textbook (page 1389). Students will answer questions 1 & 2 on page 1389. For question 2, students will write their own shrinklit poem based on the play of Oedipus.
Homework: Students should complete any classwork which they did not finish in class. Students also continue to work on their senior projects, summer reading projects, and independent reading projects.
