Objectives:
After this class, students will be able to:
a. provide a complete plot summary of the events between Oedipus and Antigone.
b. read and listen to drama.
c. analyze characterization and literary elements.
Agenda:
1. Warm-Up: Students will answer the following question in their notebook: What ONE THING will you do differently in your life this week to make it better? Ms. Kingsbury will solicit answers from students.
2. Students will begin to read Antigone today: pages 1342 - 1348.
Reading activities include:
a. Summarize what happened between the stories of Oedipus and Antigone. Students will attempt to find eight points of interest/information.
b. Set up 3-column notes sheet for Antigone Character Traits & Analysis. Students will begin to complete this sheet as we read.
c. Set up 2-column quotes sheet: Creon (I hate women!) vs. Antigone (God rules!). Students will begin to complete this sheet as we read.
d. Set up Total Personification Quotes Sheet. Students will begin to complete this sheet as we read.
Homework: Students should focus on summer reading assignments, independent reading assignment, and senior project work.
